Can we afford not having “public option” for healthcare?

Everywhere you look these days the debate on government run healthcare is at the top of the charts. As a nation who leads the world in so many areas we were unable to come to an agreement about how our health is managed. The pro and con arguments can last decades more before all parties involved will reach an agreement.

Couple of points to keep in mind:

Does recent government bailout of banks and and major industry really considered nationalism?

Will a public option provide healthy competition and better service to does who opt to pay higher premiums?

Will the american economy benefit from healthcare reform as proposed today?

The Economic Policy Institute has published a paper written by Jacob S. Hacker in support of public option for healthcare, you can read it here
